I saw the most AMAZING post from LOST IN A STORY with the most AMAZING idea to help cut down my ridiculously large TBR! Thank you so much for creating this post!!
THIS IS HOW IT WORKS: (straight from original post)
- Go to your goodreads to-read shelf.
- Order on ascending date added.
- Take the first 5 (or 10 if you’re feeling adventurous) books
- Read the synopses of the books
- Decide: keep it or should it go?
Every week I will be going through 10 books on my Goodreads TBR and purging as many as I feel comfortable with. Most likely these posts will go up on a Sunday. Currently I have 237 to go through and this number is always being added to, so hopefully this will help a lot. Here are my next ten books!
Out Of Heart by Irfan Master
This doesn’t sound too appealing to me anymore!
JUDGEMENT: DELETE
Rubyfruit Jungle by Rita Mae Brown
I can’t see myself ever getting around to this!
JUDGEMENT: DELETE
Milk and Honey by Rupi Kaur
I do want to get around to this!
JUDGEMENT: KEEP
Persuasion by Jane Austen
Definitely keeping this!
JUDGEMENT: KEEP
There’s Something About Sweetie by Sandhya Menon
I’m taking this off for now until I get around to the first one!
JUDGEMENT: DELETE
The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice & Virtue by Mackenzi Lee
Yes!! I’m disappointed at myself that I haven’t read this yet. It sounds like a book I would adore!
JUDGEMENT: KEEP
The Lady’s Guide to Petticoats & Piracy by Mackenzi Lee
Haven’t read the first one yet so I’m gonna get rid of this (for now)!
JUDGEMENT: DELETE
Turtles All The Way Down by John Green
I have absolutely no interest in this book anymore.
JUDGEMENT: DELETE
The Weight of our Sky by Hanna Alkaf
This sounds good, but realistically I’m just never going to get around to it. No point in having it occupy my TBR!
JUDGEMENT: DELETE
All the Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr
Again, it’s a book I’d probably like to read but I’m never going to get around to! I have to be cruel to be kind.
JUDGEMENT: DELETE
In total I’ve gotten rid of 7/10 books off my TBR, reducing it to 230 books! This was a great week, so I’m happy with that!

Thanks so much for reading! Until next time,
Ross!
I love Milk and Honey! You definitely made a good choice to keep it. It’s not the kind of thing you read all in one, at least not for me. I found I appreciate it best if I’m feeling down or unconfident etc. That’s when I pick it up and read maybe one or two pages and it instantly inspires me to be more positive and focus on the future ❤

Oh man, let me know if you ever want to read Persuasion together! I’ve been trying to read another Austen novel for AGES but can’t seem to pick up the motivation to do so!
Also, Milk and Honey is so good! It can be a quick read, but super powerful – I hope you get around to it soon!!

Thanks for commenting! Yes omg that sounds like a great idea! Austen is amazing but intimidating. I think Emma will be my next read or S&S but i’d defo be up for a buddy read in the future!!

Ooh yes, sounds like a plan!! I recently tried getting into Emma but was a bit lost with all the characters…maybe I’ll give it another shot when you do!

This is such a cool idea, I might have to give it a go! I think the only one off this list I’ve read is Milk and Honey, and I loved it !

Oh wow, you’re so brave! I almost never get rid of books (which is why my flat is so ridiculously full right now!) so I don’t think I could ever be this brutal!! Good on you though for being decisive – although you really should keep “All the light we cannot see” as it’s such a powerful and moving book 🙂

you’re actually the second person who said that so I’m going to add it back!

I like this idea a lot, I should reduce my gigantic TBR pile too.
