This month is exciting because I’m diving straight back into writing. I took a little break for some of May and all of June – mainly to focus on my reading and try make a decent dent in my TBR and focus on #LGBTQMonth, but alas, it is a new month, and with it comes one of my fave things in the world—Camp NaNoWriMo! Eeek!
I love taking part in Camp Nano and Nanowrimo in November because I always feel so motivated. I thought I’d share a little about my project and let you know that I’m taking part. If you are, my username is @rootsbeforebranches so add me and we can motivate each other!
This month I’ll be diving into a new draft of one of my finished novels – IVYWOOD. It follows George, the heir to the Ivywood estate in 1909, England. When his father dies at the beginning of the novel, he becomes the Earl of Ivy and so much pressure is put on him to find a wife and produce the next heir.
Meanwhile, his older sister Barbara is furious that her inheritance has been so wrongly overlooked because she’s a woman—and she’ll go to the extreme to make sure she gets what she wants. But when the Patels, a family of Indian aristocrats arrive on a tour from His Majesty himself, a murder occurs and George and Barbara reluctantly must work together to save the reputation of their beloved home.
Here is a mock-up cover I made for it myself (just for personal use, I don’t own the image!)
I’m so excited to dive back into this strange little novel about deer, murder, family and what it means when you’re pushed into a box you desperately long to escape. I’m aiming for 40k, which might seem like a lot, but I tend to write a lot especially in Camp Nano months.
Are you taking part? Let me know in the comments below if so and tell me about your project!
